Balancing Yoga and Pregnancy

We truly believe in the benefits of prenatal yoga and have a a lot of new options for mamas at The Green Yogi Berkeley! Prenatal yoga instructor (and a pregnant mama herself!) Julie Anne Stathis recently chatted with us about how she balances pregnancy and yoga, and we had to share some of her gems!

Finding a balance to practice yoga while being pregnant is a great opportunity to prepare for motherhood. Taking time for self-care in the form of deep breaths and moving your body will not only be beneficial for yourself and your baby, but serve as a solid platform for years to come.

Practicing yoga while being pregnant has been a wonderful reminder to let go of expectations! While I am not able to practice some asanas the way I could pre-pregnancy, I am able to stay truly present to what I can do in this phase of my life. I have been greatly reminded of the power of the breath and how it is the real teacher of the practice.
Learning to slow down and take breaks is one of the best things about practicing yoga while being pregnant; a chance to be present and accept each moment as it comes is a gift.
