And now for the tips!
Never go to the grocery store when you are hungry. You will end up buying too much food that will go bad and you tend to not make the healthiest food choices.
Shop on “off days” at the store, Tuesday-Saturday. The busiest days at the grocery store are Sunday and Monday evening after work. Shopping on an off day with less crowds will help you feel more relaxed and less stressed.
All grocery stores are set up the same way, fresh fruits and vegetables are in the front. This is on purpose! They set the store up like this so that you feel so good about buying tons of healthy foods that you are more apt to purchase the junk foods. Try to stay on the perimeter of the store and stay out of the aisles expect for the coconut oils, quinoa and almond butters.
If buying a food item that comes in a box, be smarter than the marketer. Right now companies are marketing so called “healthy” foods in orange, green or tan packaging. They are doing this because we think this makes an item healthy. When they market a product with the words, healthy and natural it doesn’t mean anything. The only label that is regulated is the organic stamp. So be very aware of the marketing ploys!
