Many of you have heard through the instagram grapevine that The Green Yogi is expanding to Northern California!! Mary Strong, the founder and creator of The Green Yogi, has been searching for the perfect opportunity to create another space for people to discover, experience, and fall in love with this beautiful practice of yoga, for about 4 years now. In late October of 2013 she was in Northern Berkeley when she came across a space she knew she could work with, it already had a green door! Ever since it’s been full steam ahead and a labor of sweat and love; signing the lease, sourcing the materials, renovating the space from top to bottom, and hand selecting an amazingly talented team of Nor Cal yoga teachers and support staff.
I’ll let you know when North Berkeley is open for classes but in the meantime in case you’ve missed all the fun on insta, I’ve included the progress below. If you have friends in the Berkeley area (the studio is at 1642 Martin Luther King Jr. Way), let them know we’ll be open for yoga very soon and we can’t wait for them to inspire us!

Donny, Mary’s husband, prepping the floors
Finding used windows for the buildout of the reception, renovations can be eco-friendly
Using old French doors as windows for the reception area, it is almost done!

Making chalkboards out of recycled plywood
Mary and Donny’s dog, Bandit, holding down the studio. He loved helping paint the fireplace!
The chalkboard sign is hung!

It’s a family effort!
