Being a Green Yogi, I like to use the food in my fridge and pantry while it’s still fresh and hate throwing away anything because it’s gone bad. Which is why I love the Whole Foods App! I can search recipes by dietary preferences: gluten free, vegetarian, fat free, high fiber, low fat, low sodium, sugar conscious, vegan, dairy free, or wheat free. I can also search by category: budget, cooking with kids, entertaining, family friendly, no cook, one pot meals, you get the idea. I can also search by course, super easy.
But the #1 reason I love the app most is because I can search by ingredients. I am no Iron Chef and try as I might can’t pull a main course out of my yoga pants without at least a bare bones recipe… The Whole Foods App comes to my rescue nightly. I recently searched my “need to use now” ingredients: cherries, chicken thighs, and fresh spinach. Namaste Whole Foods for suggesting Quick Stovetop Chicken Cutlets with Cherry Salsa.
Added bonuses: the ingredients list included whole wheat bread crumbs, I blended up the last piece we had for crumbs, and cilantro, which I luckily have growing on our balcony.
It was easy, unique, and delicious. It was so warm we sat outside making it a perfect summer evening meal.
