The Most Important Meal of the Day…

Breakfast!

I have to admit, I’d be fine just having a cup of joe every morning and rolling it through to lunch.  I like to get my vinyasa flow on in the morning and don’t like a full belly before I sweat.  BUT, I do have a background in nutrition and I know better…

Your breakfast doesn’t need to be huge, but it does need PROTEIN to jump start your metabolism and your day!   What kind is best?  An egg or two (just eating the egg whites is ideal with some salt and pepper), a half cup to a cup of Greek Yogurt with some berries, my favorite brand is Fage, with a little Organic Raw Blue Agave to lightly sweeten it up, or a yummy and easy on the go smoothie.  I think smoothies are kind of like salads or soups, you can use whatever ingredients you have in your fridge and cupboard.  Just make sure you include sources of proteins like yogurt or protein powder to get the grams you need!

I just discovered the best protein powder I’ve ever tried that fits all my criteria called Perfect Fit Protein by Tone It Up!

It’s organic brown rice protein that is gluten-free, raw, vegan, non-GMO, sugar free, fat free, dairy free, soy/corn/wheat free, hypoallergenic, high in anti-oxidants, easily digestible and absorbable, and has a complete set of amino acids.  Plus it has 15 grams of easy protein!

This morning I made a delicious one with

  • couple spoonfuls of Fage Greek Yogurt
  • Perfect Fit Vanilla Protein Powder by Tone It Up!
  • cup of organic frozen blueberries
  • 1/4 cup raw oatmeal
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • cinnamon
  • spoonful almond butter

How do you get your morning protein?

Be Inspired,

Kelly

  1. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day & I can’t get to the table soon enough! Fage Greek yogurt is easily my favorite–I like it so much I eat 0% fat, plain! I haven’t had success with any protein powders yet–they all are immensely constipating, but I haven’t tried Perfect Fit…thanks for the tip/recipe.
