Yogi Of The Month: Brad Glynn

Congratulations to our Yogi Of The Month for March, Brad Glynn!  I actually wrote a post about him and his awesome organic KEVO Naturals Body Butter awhile back, it’s been a miracle cream helping prevent stretch marks while pregnant…  And I’m so happy we are honoring him this month at The Green Yogi.  Along with his inspiring practice Brad is entered in Walmart’s “Get On The Shelf Contest” for KEVO Naturals, but he needs our votes to win.  Please take a moment to encourage Walmart to stock more organic and natural products like Brad’s at http://www.getontheshelf.com/product/3545/KEVO-Skin-Butter

Who is your favorite instructor?

That’s a tough one because every instructor at GY is so great. I have been to other studios but have never gone back much, and that is because of the great energy at GY. If I have to pick just one, I suppose that would be Jamie.  I’ve been to more of her classes than others not only because they fit my schedule but she challenges students so much. That said, I’ve loved every instructor and class I’ve taken here.

What is your favorite asana?

Ferret pose of course!  After the critter paid us a visit at the retreat in Belize, any ground-bound pose such as sphinx or cobra that we renamed ‘ferret pose’, reminds me of that great week.

What is your intention for your yoga practice in 2012?

Well, this is the year of the Dragon and that brings with it opportunity and risk in all facets of life more so than other years. I’d like to use yoga as a stabilizing factor to help keep a clear mind and make good decisions in the coming year.

What song would you like to hear on every yoga play list?

Long before any of us were born, great music was made. One of those songs is Dear Mr. Fantasy by Traffic. That would be great in any class.

What inspires you?

Love. Given that there are only two emotions, love and fear, I’ll go with love. In any situation one can ask, “Do I love this?” If not, then there is an element of fear and some other activity should be sought.

When you aren’t on the mat, where can we find you?

The beach is a safe bet.  And then I love live music. There are so many small venues close to us that showcase amazing talent that I often find myself is a dimly lit dive enjoying an outstanding performance

How has yoga improved your life?

There are the obvious strength, flexibility and discipline benefits.  Then there are the more subtle aspects of the spirit and energy that we build within ourselves and share with every other being. Yoga has helped me in both of these aspects.
