On top of all the fun possible prizes and the knowledge that your practice will be that much more meaningful because you have changed the course of at least three children’s lives, at Four Daughter’s Kitchen (across the street from our studio) you can enjoy a delicious cup of free coffee and hang out with your fellow yogis.

Most of us are familiar with the awesome black stretchy pants from lululemon and tasty beverages and food from Four Daughter’s but you might not be familiar yet with Y.O.G.A. for Youth.  It is one of the oldest and most distinguished youth yoga programs in the country, which offers a comprehensive non-denominational youth development program based in ancient yogic techniques.  Their program is designed for schools, detention centers, and community facilities and fosters confident, healthy, and emotionally stable individuals with higher levels of academic aptitude and improved behavioral management skills.

Y.O.G.A. for Youth targets four major components all associated with the diminishment of fear, the root cause of anger: behavioral stability, physical health, self-esteem, and scholastic aptitude. Focusing on these components treats a multitude of symptoms including violence, vandalism, substance abuse, obesity, eating disorders, teen pregnancy, sexual assault, sexually transmitted diseases, truancy, poor grades, bullying, and suicide.

If you are interested in learning more about this organizations goals and programs please check out their website, which is chock full of the enormous benefits they bring in to our surrounding community.

And if you don’t have a mat or cash to donate no worries.  In the end Y.O.G.A. for Youth, lululemon athletica, Four Daughters, and The Green Yogi all encourage you to be present on your mat and continue through your yoga practice to spread your own love and light.

I hope I see you Saturday!

Be Inspired,

Kelly

  1. s a bit of truth to the mostly fiction tales we were told as kids.
But even more concerning was I contacted Jeremy Saffron who is a good friend of mine and he told me that he
too thought it was once good and he did more research and found out it really wasn’t.
Not much research has been done to prove that this is
    the case though.
